چکیده

The trend of using natural fibers in geotechnical engineering has become great interest to improve weak soils due some its advantages such as local availability, environmental friendliness, and lower cost. In this study, a set unconfined compression strength direct shear tests were conducted evaluate the performance Al-Nasiriya clayey soil reinforced with fibers. Three different types investigated sustainable ones, including wheat straw fiber palm frond fiber, well imperata cylindrica fiber. effects various contents (0.25 %, 0.5 0.75 1 %) lengths (20 mm, 30 40 mm) experimentally evaluated. results indicated that compressive increased significantly increase content length up an optimum value then decreased. % respectively. Compared unreinforced soil, values at by 102 126 66 for samples straw, fronds, fibers, properties improved reinforcement internal friction angle 17.7 42 9 Forever, cohesion are also inclusion

Improvement of Strength Parameters of Sand Reinforced with Polymeric Fibers

Triaxial consolidated drained, unconfined compression, and CBR tests have been conducted in order to study the stress-strain, strength, and volume change characteristics of fine sand specimens reinforced by polymeric fibers made from carpet wastes. The variables are aspect ratio (length/width) and weight percentage of the fibers. The results indicate that the peak strength and total volume chan...

Strength and Toughness of Reinforced Concrete with Coated Steel Fibers

The effect of zinc phosphate (ZP) and zinc calcium phosphate (ZCP) coatings on the reinforcing mechanisms of smooth steel fiber in cementitious matrix have been studied. The results of pull out tests illustrated that by coating smooth steel fiber the pull-out load may be increased up to 100%. The effect of zinc phosphate coating on interface bonding was more than zinc-calcium phosphate coating....

Increase of Resistance Parameters of Clay Soils in East Isfahan by Geopolymer Process and Reinforced with Polypropylene Fibers and Comparison with Soil Stabilization with Cement

Since clay is widely used in most construction projects, the issue of improving clay soils has considerable importance. This study aimed to optimize the variables affecting the properties of geopolymer and improve their mechanical properties using Isfahan blast furnace slag. Taguchi's statistical design method was used to model three process variables (blast furnace slag, water, and alkali sodi...

Tensile Strength Characteristics of Polypropylene Composites Reinforced with Stone Groundwood Fibers from Softwood

The behavior of stone groundwood / polypropylene injection-molded composites was evaluated with and without coupling agent. Stone groundwood (SGW) is a fibrous material commonly prepared in a high yield process and mainly used for papermaking applications. In this work, the use of SGW fibers was explored as a reinforcing element of polypropylene (PP) composites. The surface charge density of th...
